Uncannily challenging excessive symbolic power granted to scientific institutions, the “Institutional Chair” reveals a tension with the accepted desubjectivisation of the body into specimen for study. The Institution Chair’s smoothly finished lamb leather seat subtly winks at clinical aesthetics. The seat suspends from chromed steel rings that hang onto an elegant and minimalistic structure.

Maika palazuelos (designer and director) started panorammma during confinement with the intention of creating a permeable and open platform for design exploration. With an artistic background, maika initially conceived panorammma as an extension of her personal practice. Identifying in expressive domestic objects a possibility for them to compete with and extend our everyday narrative by inserting themselves into it. In a sense, they become trojan horses for artistic discourse by disrupting and reframing the mundane; opening up the possibility of altered states of life.
